Really, Christmas specials are like a shorter version of Christmas films, which is great if you need a little pick me up. So if you've got under an hour and fancy a bit of festive cheer, try one of these.
Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special -
Run time: 1 hour
"Oh. Oh. Oh. Merry Christmas"
The most relatably british Christmas special I can think of! I am yet to meet someone who doesn't have the boxset in their home.
Friends Series 7 Episode 10 'The One With The Holiday Armadillo'
Run time: 22 minutes
"It's like the Easter bunny's funeral in here"
Out of the many Friends Christmas episodes, this is my favourite; potentially just for how ridiculous the concept is. I also love that Ross teaches Ben about his heritage, showing him that it's ok to celebrate more than one holiday.
Outnumbered Christmas Special 2009
Run time: 40 minutes
"500 presents and they're dueling with toilet brushes"
All of them are good, but the kids were so much funnier when they were little, and the arguments between Ben and Karen remind me so much of me and my brother (although theirs end less violently).
Doctor who The Christmas Invasion
Run time: 1 hour
"I'm gonna be killed by a Christmas tree"
Because it's where we meet the 10th Doctor! It's the first time I sat in front of the telly at my Nans and told everyone to shush so I could hear every word, this episode carries massive nostalgia for me and I'm gutted there's no doctor who on Christmas day this year.
